Things Everyone Should Know

Welcome to Precision Cut Archery!

These are some things we believe everyone should know to get the most out of our platform.

We highly recommend reading through these tips before getting started. They'll help you avoid common pitfalls and ensure you get the most accurate results possible!

  • Take plenty of time to sight-in. Not taking enough time to shoot in perfect marks is by far the most common issue we see! Several shooting sessions over a few days is ideal.

  • Shoot at a thin, horizontal line when sighting-in, like a piece of tape across your target. This will help you see any vertical error much more clearly. 40 and in, we like to aim for the edge and try to break the line. Even something like 1/2" of error inside of 40 is significant!

  • Extend your sight-in distances out as far as possible. 20 and 30 yards are NOT good distances to use, as it's too difficult to see vertical deviation on target. Generally, we recommend a minimum of at least 35 or 40 yards.

  • If you’re a newer archer, are short on time, or don't plan to shoot long range (80+), use our ‘quick start’ sight-in method instead of shooting in marks. This method only requires a good chronograph speed and will be more accurate out of the gate than hastily shot in marks!

  • When measuring your bow, aim for measurements to be within 1/16 of an inch. A draw board can be a huge help here.

  • This isn't a program that requires fudging or tweaking to get accurate results! With good data inputs, we always expect spot-on tapes and marks. Our calculations have been validated extensively by the best archers to extreme ranges (170yd+). If something isn’t coming out right, there is some error somewhere.

  • We have additional help built right into the application. Click the information icons for more details on each field. In addition, we have a link to comprehensive information at the bottom of most pages.
